Stop Motion-Animation Created from 3D-Printed Frames!
Apparently this entire process took around four weeks to complete. This includes the 3D printing of each individual frame of this fifty piece set, the trimming off the excess materials from each print and then finally taking the shots that make up the animation.
This isn’t anything new (as we’ve seen stop motion company Laika use 3D printing to help them to create some of their amazing movies) but seeing a smaller studio able to produce something using this same technology makes me hopeful for the future of stop motion animation.
DBLG’s in-house studio projects are a platform for us to experiment with creative ideas and above all have fun. For this project we wanted to explore and combine 3d animation, 3D printing with stop frame animation.
